Real Estate and Land Use

As the old saying about real estate goes, "they aren't making any more of it." In fact, with population growth and burgeoning government regulation of land use, the supply of available land is rapidly decreasing, creating pressures to use land more intensively. This results in a greater burden on developers, invites stronger opposition from neighbors, and strains the resources of regulators. Because so much is at stake, real estate law-especially in the land use area-has assumed great importance.

We counsel clients in all aspects of real estate: buyers, sellers, developers, contractors, landlords, tenants, design professionals, homeowner or condominium associations, and mortgage lenders. We routinely handle purchases, sales, and financing of commercial, residential, and industrial parcels. We are frequently involved in obtaining land use approvals for subdivisions, hotels, shopping centers, office buildings, and large-scale multi-family developments. Accordingly, contracts, leases, subleases, condominium declarations, public offering statements, and easement agreements arise frequently in our practice. We also handle court challenges to the decisions of land use agencies. We are called upon frequently to resolve boundary disagreements, title defects, and other disputes concerning property. In short, we are "at home" with real estate.
