We are proud to announce that Shelby L. Wilson has become a member of the firm. She comes to us with nearly 20 years’ experience in sophisticated estate and tax planning with a particular focus on succession planning for closely-held businesses. Her professional interests also include charitable giving, generation-skipping taxes, and personal income tax planning.

In addition, Shelby is active in settling estates and administering trusts, often counseling executors and trustees on matters before the probate courts, the Department of Revenue Services, and the Internal Revenue Service.

She formerly served as chair of the subcommittee on Closely-Held Businesses of the American Bar Association Section on Taxation. She is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association Section on Taxation and a member of the Section on Estates and Probate.

Having been nominated by other tax lawyers who work at the pinnacle of the profession, Shelby is also honored to have been elected a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel. This organization is devoted to advancing the professional development of attorneys who dedicate themselves to tax law.

Shelby earned a bachelor’s degree from Franklin & Marshall College, a law degree from UCONN, and a masters in taxation from Georgetown University.

A lifelong resident of Orange, Shelby is active in community affairs. She served as Assistant Town Moderator for several years. She also served on the Hopkins School Alumni Board of Directors and on the Board of Directors of LifeBridge Community Services. Currently, Shelby serves on the Town of Orange Ethics Commission and sits on the Endowment Committee of the Milford Arts Council.

In conjunction with our estate planning, probate, and business law teams, she will be available to see clients in Danbury, Southbury, and Westport, and of course, via Zoom. Please join us in welcoming her!
